Your Christmas Organic Garden
Christmas is looming, I’m thinking the potted lime would make a nice outdoor decorated tree this year and at this late stage I may even do some spangly things outside to celebrate the festive season in my garden.
Not sure about you, but everything seems to speed up in December while I feel more like slowing down. I’ve been visiting folks in their gardens to help them design and grow flourishing gardens while the growing season is so luxurious.
And, the vegie patch is ramping up to a fullsome harvest for the summer. I’m expecting babies and lots of them this summer. Baby cucumbers of two types, tiny little crisp snow peas and Redlands Pioneer bush beans, sweet corn, little leeks, (ah yes, maybe leek and cranberry parcels for Christmas day?), zucchini flowers, lettuces, Asian greens and kale, snake beans and eggplants of 4 colourful types. The developing tomatoes already have their fruit fly protective jackets on as I write.
Rather than take time off, make the most of the festive season and celebrate with rows of capsicums, tomatoes, basil or beans. Make the most of the growing season and plant out your vegie patch while the weather is warm and wet and the growth is luxuriant.
